About Myself

My name is Harshavardhan Reddy Yakkanti. I born in a village called H.M Padu which is a nearest to capital of Andhra. I grew up in a Mumbai. My family consist of four members.

My Education:

I am doing my masters in Information technology. I completed my undergraduate in Aeronautical Engineering from Guru Nanak Engineering College (Hyderabad - Ibrahimpatnam).

My Hobbies:

I play and watch cricket during free time. I played many cricket tournaments held by our school. Other than this Kabaddi takes my interest towards it.

Why Kabaddi as a blog?


Kabaddi is a game which required physical and mental skills. During school days, our School held kabaddi competitions. This grabs my attention to play and participate in competition. And in recent years’ kabaddi has emerge widely in India by implementation of various international competitions such as Pro Kabaddi. 

History:

Kabaddi is the national game of Bangladesh, States in India like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana and Bihar are well known for kabaddi. In 1936 Berlin Olympics, India demonstrated the kabaddi which received  International exposure. This game was introduced in the Indian Olympic games at Calcutta in 1936. The All India Kabaddi Federation (AIKF) was founded in 1950 and framed the rules of kabaddi. AIKF has changed into The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) in 1972. 




India is the most successful team at international level. India Men's and Women's kabaddi team has won all major tournaments like World Cup and Asian Games. Indian national Men Kabaddi team won the gold medal at Beijing Asian games and other are followed by Hiroshima 1994, Bangkok 1998, Busan 2002, Doha 2006. Guangzhou 2010 Asian games was the year won by both men’s team and women’s team.







They had also won the first Kabaddi world cup in the year 2004 held by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF). Indian Women’s National team won the first world cup in the year 2012 held by the Government of Bihar and the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India.
Kabaddi Field:

Kabaddi is played as an indoor and outdoor sport. The Field is constructed as  rectangular in shape having the dimensions of (110 yards * 60 yards).Kabaddi field is divided into two halves, each half  is divided into certain parts. They are characterized as :  




Mid Line: This line separates the two halves of the kabaddi court.

Baulk Line: Every raider has to mandatory touch the baulk line. If a raider doesn’t touch the line, then it is being given out and point is given to other team.

Bonus Line:  A bonus line, gives an extra one point when a raider touches the bonus line.

End Line: The end line is the line where kabaddi field ends on the all sides.

Sitting Block: This place is used for the players who are been out.

Lobby: A Raider can pass through lobby when he or she touches the defender.
How Kabaddi is played?

Kabaddi is played with a total of 12 players, in which 7 players are played on court and 5 players off court used as a substitutes. Duration of game is 40 minutes i.e. divided into two halves -  20 minutes for each half and 5 minutes’ rest time between the halves. Players are characterized as Raider’s, Defender’s.

Raider      

A Raider has a time of maximum limit of 30 seconds to raid. A Raider’s role is to touch the opposition player and return back to mid line, where he or she can earn a point for his or her team.



Defender


A Defender’s role is to catch the raider, should not allow to touch any player of defending team or stop him by taking where he or she earns a point for his or her team.


Rules of Kabaddi:

Raider goals:

Raider has 30 seconds of time limit for each raid.
Raider has to take one breadth and prompt as a kabaddi until raid completes.
Raider has to touch baulk line.
Raider can touch as many players as he reaches back to mid line. Touches can be Toe touch, Back Kick, Running hand touch.




Defender goals:

Defender should not allow raider to touch any of their player and he has to stop the raider by not allowing go back to mid line.

Defender should stop raider to earn a bonus point. (Note: Bonus point is only applicable when six or more players are available in defending team).

Defender can hold raider by Ankle hold, Back Hold, Front tackle, Dash.






How kabaddi emerges from past?

Six countries represent kabaddi sport in first Asian games hosted by China in the year 1990 and it has turned  upto eight countries in 2014. Kabaddi has got wide range of response from all over india and international due to limelight of Pro Kabaddi. Pro Kabaddi  is the new league founded by Mashal Sports  in  India with eight teams. It was founded in the year 2014 with successful first season. The first season was won by Jaipur pink panthers.With a tremendous response, U Mumba has won the second season of Pro Kabaddi League. Pro Kabaddi has raised the value of sport and players in  India and  international.
