History:
Kabaddi is the national
game of Bangladesh, States in India like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu,
Maharashtra, Telangana and Bihar are well known for kabaddi. In 1936 Berlin
Olympics, India demonstrated the kabaddi which received International
exposure. This game was introduced in the Indian Olympic games at Calcutta in
1936. The All India Kabaddi Federation (AIKF) was founded in 1950 and framed
the rules of kabaddi. AIKF has changed into The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of
India (AKFI) in 1972.
India is the most
successful team at international level. India Men's and Women's kabaddi team
has won all major tournaments like World Cup and Asian Games. Indian national
Men Kabaddi team won the gold medal at Beijing Asian games and other are
followed by Hiroshima 1994, Bangkok 1998, Busan 2002, Doha 2006. Guangzhou 2010
Asian games was the year won by both men’s team and women’s team.
They had also won the
first Kabaddi world cup in the year 2004 held by the International Kabaddi
Federation (IKF). Indian Women’s National team won the first world cup in the
year 2012 held by the Government of Bihar and the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of
India.
